Like with all A Mermaid’s Grace products, this Vitamin C Serum is formulated to penetrate fast into the skin and to provide the skin with instant long-lasting moisture. When you use this serum, you will find that you won’t need a moisturizer to top it off, although you can use a moisturizer if you want. It does not contain any oils and therefore, it won’t feel oily.
We believe in using minimal ingredients to allow the star ingredient to shine-in this case, Ascorbic acid.

Vitamin C is essential to the human skin. However, our skin does not naturally produce it so we have to get it from other sources. More importantly, taking vitamin C orally does not provide the skin with enough Vitamin C, consequently, it’s important to apply it directly to the skin in order to get its benefits. Below are the benefits of applying vitamin C serum to your skin:
- Vitamin C has a UV-protective effect. Vitamin C does not absorb UV light but it neutralizes free radicals. Research has shown that the application of Vitamin C to the skin showed a reduction of UV-induced erythema by 52% and sunburn cell formation by 40-60%.
- It has Anti-aging properties. Vitamin C stimulates collagen synthesis, stabilizes collagen fibers, and decreases collagen degradation. Studies have shown that topical application of Vitamin C increases collagen production in young and aged human skin. Collagen helps give shape to the skin. When collagen synthesis is impaired or degraded then the skin shows signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, or sagging skin.
- Vitamin C improves Hyperpigmentation, Age Spots, Freckles, and Dark Spots. Vitamin C is a safe depigmenting agent. It decreases melanin formation which is responsible for the dark patches of skin. This gives the appearance of an even skin tone, bright skin, and smooth-looking skin.

If you have uneven skin tone, dark spots, acne blemishes, wrinkles, dry skin, and oily skin, this serum is good for you. It helps brightens the skin also rejuvenates it so your skin will look and feel younger.
It is important to note that human skin does not make its own vitamin c. Since Vitamin C is very important in the skin, it is therefore recommended that you have a reserve of Vitamin C in your skin. You do this by applying Vitamin C to your skin every 8 hours. This means that you do it twice a day. It’s okay to use other moisturizers and antioxidants on top of the serum.
- Always start with a clean face. It’s best if your skin is slightly damp. This helps the serum to absorb faster and deeper into the skin.
- Squeeze a small amount of the serum into the palms of your hands.
- Rub them together and apply to your face and neck. spread evenly. * it might feel a bit sticky at first but give it a few minutes and that feeling will go away.
- Wait about 2 minutes to layer with other actives.
- Repeat as needed.
