When you’re just starting out, your skin might be a lot more sensitive. Therefore, you need a gentle low-strength skin peel like 25% lactic acid peel to get started to avoid burns which would take you backwards.
Since lactic acid is generally gentler than other peels like glycolic acid, it is the best place to start.
It gently and safely peels away dead skin cells and with time your skin will look brighter and smoother with even skin tone.
Once your skin has gotten used to 25% lactic acid then you can move on to 30% Lactic acid Peel and then to 40% Lactic Acid Peel and eventually to 50% Lactic Acid Peel.
Lactic Acid Peel is a lot gentle compared to Glycolic acid. This means that you’re less likely to injure yourself when you do the peel at home.
Additionally, Lactic acid also has moisturizing ability which makes it ideal for people with dry or even sensitive skin. Because of Lactic Acid’s gentleness, it makes for a great first time peel.
During the application process, your skin may feel warm, tingly, and sometimes itchy. It all depends on individual skin type. The whole process takes about 7 days to complete so try to have patience.
On or around the third day, your skin may show signs of flaking or peeling and it may feel super itchy. Do not attempt to help the peeling process by picking at it or scratching- try your best to not scratch your skin (it’s hard; I know).
Because your skin may look and feel rough, it will be tempting to manually exfoliate; don’t. Just be patient and let it do its thing.
I always avoid using moisturizers on my skin when doing a peel. I feel like it interferes with the process. However, using a light moisturizer is optional if you need it.
Always DO a PATCH TEST by applying to hidden part of your body like your inner arm and observing for 24 hours before proceeding.
- Wash your face thoroughly as facial oils will prevent the Lactic Acid from effectively penetrating your skin.
- Using gloves, apply a thin layer of the peel to your skin until it’s wet (not dripping) Optionally, use a cotton gauze for application.
- Avoid the immediate eye area, lips, around nostrils and inside the nostrils.
- Leave on your skin for up to 2 minutes (if it’s your first time) and between 5-10 mins for intermediate user.
- If your skin feels excessively itchy before the time recommended is reached, NEUTRALIZE and rinse off immediately to avoid burning your skin
- Apply a pH neutralizer.
- Wash face thoroughly with cool water.
- Gently pat the face dry with a soft towel.
- Don’t use any moisturizer on your face during the peeling process (about 7 days). This is optional- you can use a light moisturizer is you need to.
- Don’t exfoliate or try to peel your skin physically; leave it alone.
- After the 7 days, you can gently exfoliate your face with a face towel and follow with our intensely moisturizing, non-comedogenic face cream like this one.
Because Lactic Acid is generally gentler on skin compared to glycolic acid peel which is also an Alpha Hydroxy Acid, people with sensitive skin can use it without experiencing adverse reactions.
You’re sure to benefit from skin peeling if you have:

- Handle chemical peels with care. Misuse of these chemicals could lead to injury to the skin.

- If you experience excessive itching, stinging, or burning, rinse off with cold water and consult your doctor if the symptoms persist.
