How to develop a skincare routine

In order to have great skin, it’s important to develop a skincare routine. Now, it doesn’t have to be overly complicated, you can make it as simple as possible and it should be fine. It’s quite obvious that if we want to be healthy and also feel healthy, we have to work at it. We would need to eat healthy, exercise a certain number of days per week, and also avoid certain activities or things.

The goal of developing a skincare routine is so you have a habit you’re used to.  At first, it will be a little difficult if you’ve never had a skincare routine. Have you ever noticed that your brain over complicates the simple things and turns them into complicated massive problems it doesn’t seem to want to deal with? This happens to me more times than I care to admit. When you have a routine for your skin, soon it becomes so natural for you that you don’t even think about it.

So How exactly do you develop a skincare routine
1. You must know what you want to achieve
You must have a clear goal you would like to achieve with your skin and then proceed from there. Knowing what you desire will serve to propel you forward. When you feel like giving up, it will always be that “pick-me-up” reason at the back of your head. Without knowing what you want, how will you justify taking even a few seconds to what needs to be done?

2. Make a firm decision
They say that a road well began is a battle half won. Making a decision goes beyond just talking about the decision you’re about to make. It means that you are invested and are taking action toward your goal. Once you make a real firm decision, the battle is half won. The challenge is keeping the moment going and this is why knowing what you want to achieve is super important.

3. Start simple
Because there are so many products out there for every single skin problem, you might find yourself getting confused about what to use. My advice is to start with two to three products – a face cleanser, a toner, and a moisturizer.  If you’re looking to reduce wrinkles, use a moisturizer that is formulated to smooth wrinkles. Similarly, if you’re looking to clear your skin, you can use a moisturizer that clears skin, etc.

4. Follow your routine twice a day
Whether you wear a lot of make-up or not, washing your face with a good cleanser is a must. Oil, dirt, dead skin, and other pollutants need to be washed off when you wake up and at the end of the day to prevent your pores from clogging. On the other hand, it’s important to add moisture to your skin after washing it to keep it moist and hydrated.

5. Be patient
We live in a world where everything is go go go. The problem is that we have trained ourselves to expect things instantly. We have to remind ourselves that our skin and bodies are the same ones we’ve had for years. They have their own system in place and they require patience. If you don’t see results instantly, it’s okay. It takes time to see a huge difference. Extend that same patience to yourself. If you forget to follow your routine a day or two, just get back in the wagon, don’t beat yourself up because it also takes time for us to get used to new habits.
