How Do You deal with bad days

How do you deal with bad days? Do you let them totally take over or you do have a plan in place to shield you from them? Of course I know there are somethings like loss that are so hard to get through and it’s okay if you can’t find the strength and need a few days or even weeks to collect yourself. Hint: I don’t deal. I’ll explain.

With that said, I wanted to take a quick moment to share with you how I deal with bad days Hint: I don’t deal. I eradicate!

Looking and feeling good is not just about how our skin looks on the outside. Whatever is going on inside us generally doesn’t hide for too long without it showing up on our skin or our lives.

And Let’s face it, life is tough and sometimes I feel like a super human having lived this long without calling it quits already. I remember being depressed at 12 and after that, I spent a lot of time feeling sorry for myself and degrading myself. But oh how things have changed.

When I think about how seeds turn into plants, there is a ‘dying’ that happens before the seed grows but then there is also nourishment from the sun, the rain, and the soil. This has led me to believe that just because life can be tough, growth happens in those very lean times, if we let it, and out of the very rough situations, beauty does eventually come, just like the seed eventually grows into the plant it’s meant to be.

Nowadays, I’m mostly a very happy person, and this took some work. I can carry on very interesting conversations with myself (I know that it sounds like) and I often have a very good time with myself. Honestly, it’s the best thing when you can enjoy hanging out by and with yourself and not need other people to pump you up constantly.

To some people this might sound nuts, but hey, it works and keeps me happy and entertained- I hardly even watch tv or get on social media to for entertainment.

However, there are days that hit me sideways and all of a sudden, I’m down on my knees  in a black hole, and I can’t seem to find my footing.

It is for these kinds of days that I devised an emergency exit plan. You know, just like each public building has an emergency fire exit plan, I have one too, except it’s for my mental health. Here is what I do and I invite you to steal my plan or device your own strategy that works for you. As long you have a plan in place so you know exactly what to do to get yourself back on course.

On the days I find myself happiest, I write letters to my future sad self. I tell my future self just how happy I am at that moment and why I feel that way. I search my day and find little things that I did to make me happy so I basically give my future self a recipe to get to feeling this way (happy) again.

I decided to start doing this because when I’m down, I find it hard to remember how great I felt the previous day or just minutes before. It’s weird how negative things can find ways to zap you when you least expect it.

I have some of these notes taped on my bathroom mirror so when I start feeling weird, I’ll run straight to my mirror. It works like a charm.

How about? Do you have a plan for getting yourself going again when you find yourself down?
